Climate & Geography

THE CLIMATE - Typically Caribbean, with temperatures ranging from 77°F to 85°F. At night, it is slightly cooler due to the trade winds. There is an average rainfall of 45 inches per year. THE PEOPLE - Most of the population is of African descent. However, with the growing tourist business, the percentage of Europeans, North Americans and other West Indians is increasing. THE BEACHES - All beaches in Virgin Gorda are public.

· THE BATHS - This is the most visited beach in the British Virgin Islands. Huge granite boulders create hidden pools and grottoes. The trail through the Baths is now marked but the journey can only be recommended for the athletic.

· SPRING BAY - Just north of the Baths, Spring Bay is a very picture perfect palm edged beach.

· TRUNK BAY - Another pretty beach just further north of Spring Bay.

· SAVANNAH BAY - Over the hill, north of the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour and Spanish Town lies Savannah Bay. This quiet beach is protected by offshore reefs.
