The stores in Cruz Bay will meet most of your needs, but many people ferry over to St. Thomas for more expanded grocery shopping. Stores may be closed on Sundays, so plan ahead. The variety and quality of the St. John shopping on St. John has soared over the last ten years. There are many interesting shops. Shopping with a $1,200 duty free allowance which can include a gallon of alcohol and up to five cartons of duty-free cigarettes. An unlimited number of gifts up to $100 in value can be mailed back individually to the U.S. mainland.
