Easter week is time for Carnival in Jamaica. This week-long festival features costumes, parades, dancing, music and lots more. Golf is the sport during December when the World Championship of Jamaica Golf take center stage. Top golfers from around the world vie for over U.S.$2.5 million. The Accompony Maroon Festival, held in early January in western Jamaica. The festival dates to the 1800s when the Maroons (escaped slaves and their descendants) celebrated freedom and their heritage with feasting, singing and dancing. |
