We recommend Barbados shopping in Bridgetown for excellent buys on English goods and Barbados rum. The shops are less crowded in the afternoon. The antique shopping is renowned and there are many antique shops. The new Caribbean cruise terminal offers attractive shopping opportunities with duty-free shops, retail stores and vendors featuring Bajan artists. Both duty-free shopping and local marketplaces are plentiful.
Some favorite markets are The Cheapside and Fairchild Street markets in Bridgetown, and the fish market in the town of Oistins. Craft shops where you can watch the artisans in action include Pelican Village on the Princess Alice Highway, near the Bridgetown Harbour.
In order to shop in the duty-free stores, you must produce your travel documents before the transaction can be completed. Some of the best buys include: Liquor, bone china, crystal, electronic equipment, cameras and binoculars, watches, jewelry, clothing and accessories and perfumes.
