Barbados Beaches
The sand of the beautiful beaches of Barbados ranges in color from pink to white. When choosing your beach, remember that the surf on the northern and eastern coastlines is rough due to its position in the ocean. Since Barbados is the first island to meet the swell of the Atlantic Ocean, the waves crash magnificently against the coastline. On the western and southern coast, the waters are calm. All of the beaches are open to the public and access is enforced by the government. An underwater trail ideal for snorkelers is follows a reef near Folkestone Park in St. James Parish.
Since Barbados is the most eastern of all of the Caribbean islands, it is the first to receive the Atlantic Ocean's swell, which crashes on shore on the northern and eastern coast. However, the western and southern coasts are calm and quiet accommodating a wide variety of water sports.
