Fustic House Private Estate

A privately owned 11 acre estate dating from 1740, Fustic House is set on a ridge above the St Lucy coastline, a mere 200 paces from the beach. Re-designed in the late 70's by Oliver Messel, Fustic has sublime views of the Caribbean sea and the west coast. The privacy, location and splendour of the gardens provides a lush, tropical escape that rejuvenates the senses, and the cuisine (regarded among many as the best on the island) prepared by Fustic's private chef make this home unique amongst the great properties of the Caribbean.
There are 6 bedrooms: 5 ensuite and 1 with adjacent bathroom. (Two in the Great House, two bedrooms in the Plantation Wing and two bedrooms in the Messel Wing). The beach is in close proximity, a short walk away via a new beach access.
The Great House, designed with all Oliver Messel's theatrical flair, contains the Master Suite and Wisteria suite. The airy living area is linked to the outside by a series of covered verandas, a hallmark of Messel’s work. Linked to the sitting area, the library features a mahogany desk at one end with stunning views of the ravine. At the other end is a comfortable seating area where you can watch cable TV or a DVD. There is ADSL internet access and wireless connection, as well as a BOSE stereo system and direct dial telephone.
Great House: Master Suite
The Master Suite features an enormous super king size bed. Spacious and serene, the room measures 16'3" by 14'6" The suite is air conditioned and also has a ceiling fan. It is equipped with its own TV, DVD and BOSE radio/CD player and direct dial telephone. Outside the master suite is a covered open air veranda featuring stunning sea views. The suite is linked to its own private bathroom with bath and shower.
Great House: Wisteria Suite
The Wisteria suite features a King size bed and measures 9'8" by 11'6" There is a BOSE radio/CD player and direct dial telephone. The suite is air conditioned. It is across the hall from its own beautifully equipped bathroom
Messel Wing: Seaview Suite
The Seaview suite is situated downstairs in the Messel Wing and opens onto its own tropical terrace looking out over the sea. The suite is light and airy and decorated in the classic colours of Messel green and white. The newly refurbished bathroom has a luxury walk-in shower
The Seaview suite measures 15'5" by 14'9". The suite is air conditioned. It is equipped with a BOSE radio/CD player and direct dial telephone.
The Messel Wing: Sunset Suite
The Sunset suite can be found upstairs in the Messel Wing and has its own private covered terrace with spectacular sea views. This is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the panoramic sunsets. Freshly decorated in Messel green and white, the Sunset suite measures 13'7" by 13'7". It has its own en-suite bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
The suite is air conditioned. It is equipped with a BOSE radio/CD player and direct dial telephone.
Plantation Wing
Hidden to the north-east of the Great House and Messel Wing, the Plantation Wing was added in 2000, but faithfully recreates the distinctive Messel style
The Plantation Wing is made up of two luxury bedroom suites separated by a covered sitting court and an open atrium filled with lush tropical foliage. There is a games room and simple kitchen area attached, with table tennis and sports equipment. The bedroom suites are both surrounded by a covered terrace. The sitting court has been featured in many international property publications.
Plantation Wing: The Mahogany Suite
The stunning Mahogany suite measures 18'3" by 18'3". Designed using tropical dark wood to give a rich, exotic feel. Magnificent four poster king size mahogany bed. Luxury en-suite mahogany and coral bathroom. Five sets of double glass doors giving stunning views of the garden. The suite is air conditioned and also has a ceiling fan. BOSE radio/CD player and a secure safe for valuables, as well as a direct dial telephone.
Plantation Wing: The Wicker Suite
The sumptuous Wicker suite measures 18'3" by 18'3". It has a Chinese inspired theme with red lacquered cabinet and rich golden wood floors. Imposing king size sleigh bed fitted with custom designed linens and silks. The luxury en-suite wood panelled bathroom has its own private outdoor shower. The suite is air conditioned and also has a ceiling fan. The suite is equipped with a BOSE radio/CD player, flat screen cable TV, direct dial telephone and a secure safe for valuables.
Your own private, tropical lagoon!
Yet another example of Oliver Messel’s magic is the extraordinary lagoon pool at Fustic. 6 m wide and 16 m long, it is carved out of coral stone and surrounded by lush overhanging vegetation, so it feels more like an undiscovered lagoon you have stumbled across rather than a swimming pool. At night, the water is lit from below, making it an even more romantic and mysterious place to swim. Next to the lagoon pool is the newly created and spacious pool deck. Here you can relax and admire the panoramic sea views.
The cuisine at Fustic is exemplary, prepared by the in-house chef, Kenroy, who has received international accolades from previous guests for his creations (not to mention his sublime homemade ice cream!).
The dining room can seat 12 or more and looks particularly enchanting at night when it is lit by the many candles dotted around. Open on one side to take advantage of the sea views, the floor is made of natural stone and there is a natural stone fireplace at one end
Outdoor Dining
A different vista for every meal!
Dotted around the estate are different seating areas, each with its own stunning vista – if you like, you can eat in a different place every day!
The West Terrace has a variety of sitting areas and is gently shaded by Cordia trees, which drop a stunning confetti of little red flowers. The cast iron table seats 14 people and is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner party. The trees surrounding the West Terrace are adorned with hundreds of fairy lights, which provide a magical backdrop at night time.
The efficient and friendly staff at Fustic House will do their utmost to make your vacation at this unique home a memorable one. Children are welcome.
New Developments:
1. Beach Access through the Tropical Ravine, from which the quiet beach of Half Moon Fort on the Caribbean coast is a short stroll.
2. Small Speedboat - the revolutionary Zippa - for the use of guests (small fee applicable)
3. Diving Platform - this will be located off Half Moon Fort Beach (pending government permission).
4. 37 inch Flat Screen TV has been added to the library in the Great House, as well as a TV and DVD in both suites in the Plantation Wing.
5. 10+ acre estate includes unique Lagoon Swimming Pool with a Large Sun Deck looking out over the Tropical Ravine to the Caribbean Sea, extensive well-maintained and landscaped grounds and a wide variety of flora and fauna including an Orchid Walk and a newly discovered Awarak Cave System.
6. Use of the Club facilities at the exclusive Port St. Charles Marina (5 minutes away by car) with members only restaurant, bar, swimming pool, showers & changing facilities as well as beach access.
7. Fustic is a great option for families - children are welcome and we have table tennis, a trampoline, and a variety of other racquets and games.
